One of the best strategies to find out careers in M & E is through following local, regional, and global M & E communities, professional organizations, and VOPEs.  Joining email groups, social media groups, especially LinkedIn are other effective ways to get new updates.

With the increasing demand in Monitoring and Evaluation field for capable and highly skilled evaluation practitioners, formal education programs in becoming specialist in the field are slowly picking up.

Monitoring and Evaluation Journals

Journals that publish Monitoring and Evaluation related research works are available associated with different research institutes, non – governmental organizations, VOPEs around the world. 

 

These journals mainly publish the original, peer – reviewed research articles, books, papers etc. Most of these journals are on open access.

 

Some of these journals are published annually, bi-annually or more times within a year.

 

These journals publish articles from public, private, and developmental sectors which cover methods, theory, ethics, politics, and practice of evaluation.

Training courses/ workshops in global scale

These courses can be categorized as online courses and in-person courses. While some courses are paid, most courses are offered free with an option of availing a verified certificate upon payment of a minimal fee.

Further, structure of such courses is flexible and provides a supportive learning environment with many opportunities for networking and knowledge sharing.

Voluntary Organizations for Professionalization of Evaluation [VOPEs]

VOPEs play a critical role in promoting monitoring and evaluation and building a strong evaluation culture across the globe.

 

These provide voluntary services in capacity building, knowledge sharing, networking to M & E professionals from academia, public sector, development sectors.  

The International Organization for Cooperation for Evaluation [IOCE]  was formed in 2001 aiming to increase public awareness, globally validate evaluation, and support VOPEs in contributing to good governance, effective decision making, and strengthening the role of civil society.
